Who are the doctors?

There are 4 pediatricians in our practice: Dr. Maria Gokey, Dr. Mark Powell, and Dr. Glenn Schlundt. We all have different personalities and styles, but are all board certified and fellows of the American Academy of Pediatrics. We pride ourselves on our work as a team and often see one another’s patients as scheduling requires. Learn more about each of us here.

Who is accepting new patients?

Drs Maria Gokey and Glenn Schlundt are accepting all new patients. Dr. Mark Powell will accept expectant first time parents.

Who does new patient consultations?

Drs Maria Gokey and Glenn Schlundt do new patient consultations and prenatal visits €“ available times vary based on physician schedule. Please call for an appointment 626-449-8440.

How do I transfer my medical record from my old pediatrician to you?
In order to transfer any medical record from one office to another, the patient/parents need to complete an Authorization of Release Form (link to form). Please call and request that your medical record be FAXED to our office (626-449-8999), complete this form, and send it to your previous pediatrician.

How often are check-ups required?

When babies are first born, check-up schedules can vary from child to child. Typically babies are seen in the first several days of life. Subsequently, the check up schedule for infants is as follows: 2 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months, 4 months, 5 months, 6½ months, 9 months, 12 months, 15 months, 18 months, 24 months. After the 2 year old check up, well child check-ups are done annually.

How do I become a patient in the practice?

If you are an expectant parent delivering at Huntington Medical Hospital, upon registration, give the staff the name of the pediatrician you have chosen. If you are an expectant parent delivering at a different hospital, call our office (626-449-8440) on your day of discharge from the hospital and make an appointment with the pediatrician you have selected. If you have an older child, simply call and make your first appointment with the pediatrician of your choice sick visit are usually accommodated either same day or within a few days and well visits are often accommodated within 3 months, depending on your physician’s availability.

What times are check ups done?

Check ups can be scheduled both in the mornings and in the afternoons

Do you accept walk-ins?

In order to minimize wait times for our scheduled patients, we do not accept walk-ins. All patients are seen by appointment only.

What are your office hours?

Monday through Friday 8:30am-5pm, Wednesdays and Fridays the office is closed from 1pm-2pm for lunch.

What happens if we are running late to our appt?

We always appreciate a phone call to update us if you are running late. This helps us accommodate the patients who arrive before you and minimize wait times overall. When you do arrive, you may have to wait. In some circumstances, we may need to reschedule your appointment.

What insurance plans do you take?

We do not except any HMO’s. We do not accept Health Net, PHCS, GEHA, First Health, Multiplan, Health First, HCC Life, Anthem “pathway Tiered,” SouthWest Administrators, North West Administrators, Care First, Cerner Health, Unified Insurance Co / International Benefits Administrators. Families with international insurance policies are considered self-pay, but will be provided with completed forms to submit to their insurers for reimbursement.

We do accept the following insurance: Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Cigna, Aetna, and United Heath Care.

What if my child is sick, but I’m not sure if he/she needs to come in or not?

During office hours, there is a nurse available via phone to our patients. She is here to discuss your child’s current illness or any other medical questions you may have about your child. Our nurses can often be incredibly helpful with deciding whether or not your child needs to be seen.

What happens if I need to talk to a doctor or nurse after hours?

Our doctors and nurses are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by phone for emergency questions and concerns. In order to call after hours, you simply call our office phone number (626-449-8440) and a voicemail will answer prompting you to leave a message. Speak very s-l-o-w-l-y. The doctor or nurse will call back from a blocked phone number. If your phone is unable to accept blocked calls you will receive a collect phone call back.
