Established Patient FAQ

What vaccines is my child getting today/where on my child’s body are these vaccines administered?

Please see our typical vaccine schedule.

What happens if I can’t make it to a scheduled appt?

We request that all appointments be canceled 24 hours in advance. If your appointment is scheduled for a Monday, it must be canceled on the prior Friday. If you have to cancel your appointment less than 24 hours in advance you may be charged a cancellation fee.

How often are check-ups required?

When babies are first born, check-up schedules can vary from child to child. Typically babies are seen in the first several days of life. Subsequently, the check up schedule for infants is as follows: 2 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months, 4 months, 5 months, 6½ months, 9 months, 12 months, 15 months, 18 months, 24 months. After the 2-year-old check up, well child check-ups are done annually.

When are flu shots offered?

The availability of flu shots varies from year to year. Typically we begin giving flu shots in late August and they are offered through January. Please call to schedule a nurse visit during flu season if you are interested in flu shots. We also offer flu shots to parents upon request.

If I think my child is sick, can my doctor call in an antibiotic for me?

Doctors require an examination of your child in order to make informed medical decisions. We are unable to prescribe medication without this information. If your child is ill, please don’t hesitate to call our phone nurse for medical advice or make an appointment for your child to be seen.

What happens if my child gets sick while we are traveling?

Due to medical licensing rules, we are unable to call in any prescription in a different state. If you are in need of medical advice while you are traveling, feel free to call our phone nurse.

My child’s school/camp has sent home a form for the doctor to fill out what is the process for getting this completed?

We get a large number of these forms to be completed on a daily basis. For this reason we require 5-7 business days to complete these forms. The form completion fee most forms are $18. If you require the form to be completed faster than this, we do offer a “rush form” service. For an additional $25 (total $43), your form can be completed in 24 hours. (If the form is submitted on a holiday, a Friday, or on your physician’s day off, this service may not be available.)
